    Governance, Compliance, Monitoring and Evaluation

    The CIDA Empowerment Trust, Registration Number IT5016 (T), is a Public Benefit Organisation, (PBO # 930 025 255), and adheres to the regulations of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) for continuing tax exemption related to its PBO status. The regulatory requirements of PBO's are embedded in the CIDA Empowerment Trust Deed, and include financial oversight and accountability through a dedicated Board of Trustees, and ongoing record-keeping of the beneficiaries of the Trust. The Trust will issue a Section 18A Tax Exemption Certificate for all contributions. The Trust is engaged in ongoing, relevant Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting of the activities and impact of the Trust.

    CIDA Empowerment Trust has a BBBEE Level 1 Rating and is duly accountable to various stakeholders to maintain this status.

    Funds donated to the CIDA Empowerment Trust are directly channeled to bursaries for qualifying students, toward their Education Degrees and enhanced student support. This will directly impact on the development of quality teachers, contributing to uplifting the entire educational sphere, leading to overall societal improvement. Regular progress on bursary recipients and social impact will be available to all donors.

    The South African Government is committed to a policy of Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) encompassing Codes of Good Practice to effectively normalize the economic inequities of the Apartheid era, to which all companies must comply. Contributions to CIDA Empowerment Trust will be channeled to bursaries for clearly identified BBBEE beneficiaries, and will enable donors to benefit from both Skills Development and Socio-Economic Development points on their BBBEE Score Card.

    CIDA Empowerment Trust will provide donors with a PBO, Sec 18A tax deduction certificate for all contributions.

    The Trustees

    Lerato Okeyo

    Lerato Okeyo is the Chairman of the CIDA Empowerment Trust. She holds a BSc in Mathematics, and MBA. She has several years' experience in various executive leadership roles across different industries including financial investments. Well experienced in good governance practices, she has participated for a number of years as a director on several boards in different capacities, including chairing an Audit Committee and chairing the Board of a listed company. She has a particular interest in education, and hence has dedicated several years to various initiatives geared at
    providing education to the disenfranchised.

    Lerato is also an entrepreneur, and runs her own business in the construction industry.

    Caesar Molebatsi

    Caesar Molebatsi has a Masters in Communications from Wheaton Graduate School, and has provided key leadership to a number of key youth and entrepreneurial development organisations during the past 40 years. These include Youth Alive, the South African Institute of Entrepreneurship and the Triple Trust Training Organisation . Caesar brings his vast experience to the CIDA Empowerment Trust, advising on the enabling principles and activities of the Trust.

    Matodzi Ramashia

    Matodzi Ramashia is a practicing attorney specialising in corporate law. Matodzi obtained a bachelor of business administration from CIDA City Campus in 2004 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2008. Matodzi has experience in the areas of corporate governance and other related fields. Matodzi brings a passion for youth development with particular focus on education.
